When the user is actively using the search bar and wants to exit the search view, pressing the Android system back button (gesture or hardware) closes the entire app instead of just closing the search. This is unexpected and inconsistent, especially since there's also a back arrow visible at the top-left of the search view, which correctly closes the search without exiting the app.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Tap the search bar (e.g. “Search Routes, Crags, Areas…”).
2. Begin typing or just open the search view.
3. Press the Android back button.
4. Observe that the app is closed entirely.
Expected result:
The back button should dismiss the search view and return to the previous screen, not exit the app.
Actual result:
Pressing back exits the app immediately
